Love Me Tender – ProCook declares an amnesty on old fivers.

Cookware retailer ProCook has declared an amnesty on old fivers, which are being withdrawn from circulation tonight at midnight.

Flying in the face of the news that the old £5 note ceases to be legal tender from the 5th May 2017, ProCook have announced that they will continue to take old fivers right up until the end of May.

Founder Daniel O’Neill said:

“The news that the old £5 note is being taken out of circulation has taken many people by surprise, so we’ve decided to extend the deadline for our customers, allowing them to pay for ProCook products with their old fivers throughout May.

As retailers, we aren’t obliged to take the old tender but we have decided we’ll make an exception for this month as a goodwill gesture – hopefully a few people will take us up on it!”

Customers wishing to use their old tender just need to take their notes into a ProCook store and they will be accepted on any purchase until 31st May 2017.
