Gerry’s walk, Sunday 9th September.
Here are a few words from Gerry himself. ‘Every year my charity EVCR has a ‘Charity Walk’, and this year we have chosen a route around the countryside at The Valley.’
EVCR (Evesham Vale Cardiac Rehabilitation) is a set of services that help people with coronary heart disease to have the best possible help to preserve or resume their optimal functioning in society. Find out more at www.evcr.org/what-is-cardiac-rehab/
Please get involved and show support for this wonderful charity that does so much positive work in our local area ❤️
The Valley will be home to 'Mountain Biking Saturday', part of the Evesham Cyclefest for the 5th year this year; on Saturday 8th September. We are delighted that the partner charity for the Cyclefest will be the local Tracy Sollis Trust who fund research, support and equipment in the fight against leukaemia and are based in Evesham.
There will be plenty to challenge mountain bikers on our off road course around The Valley - now home to the 18,000sqft Boardman Performance Centre. For our younger cyclists (our youngest last year was only 4!) there will be a short course to complete while the Adult Challenge Cup Race will include up to 10 laps. We will have races for under 6 years, under 8 years, under 12 years, under 16 years, 16-18 years, adult novice and the Adult Challenge Cup, so there’s something for everyone. Our aim is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for bikers of all ages and abilities to get involved and enjoy themselves!
All participants will receive a medal and there will be prizes for the top male and female racers in each class. The course is suitable for all MTB bikes, and for the under 12's all children's bikes will be suitable. Please ensure everyone brings a helmet!
Registration: On the day - 9am for children and from 12:30pm for adults.
· £3 for U6’s and U8’s
· £5 for U12’s, U16’s and 16-18’s
· £10 for Adult Novice
· £15 for Adult Challenge Cup
We are extremely excited about this amazing event and look forward to bringing a cycling community together.
Regatta is currently raising awareness to the dangers of insect bites not only abroad but also in the UK.
The Health Protection Agency suggests that there could be up to 3000 new cases of Lyme Disease occurring in the UK alone every year, and it can be difficult to diagnose as the symptoms can easily be confused with other conditions. Lyme Disease has been in the spotlight recently with stories of adults and children becoming extremely ill and even paralysed after experiencing tick bites in the UK.
The best and most effective way to prevent Lyme disease is to wear appropriate protective clothing. Craghoppers NosiLife clothing is the world’s first and only permanent insect-protective clothing, offering protection from critters such as mosquitoes, midges and ticks which can carry diseases and deadly viruses such as Malaria, the Zika Virus and Lyme Disease.
Our local Regatta store is stocking Craghoppers NosiLife clothing and is offering customers the chance to win a full kit of NosiLife protective clothing, if you can face your fears and enter the Crunchy Critter Challenge. Come down to Regatta on Saturday 28th July to take part!
Whoever eats the most critters in 10 seconds will win a full Nosi life kit including the famous NosiLife adventure shirt, zip off trousers, hoody and hat.
